Toughened glass is made from annealed glass via a thermal tempering process. The glass is placed onto a roller table, taking it through a furnace that heats it above its annealing point of about 720 °C. The glass is then rapidly cooled with forced air drafts while the inner portion remains free to flow for a short time.
When glass is cut, the edge of the cut pieces remain very sharp, this type of glass is very dangerous and should not be handled without protective clothing. we offer a polishing service that blunts the edge of the glass and makes it easier and safer to handle.
Sandblasting is when the glass is treated with a pressurised hose with grit to achieve a decorative effect, this is commonly used for shower cubicles, interior doors, mirrors and lots more.
Laminated glass is a combination of two or more glass sheets with one or more interlayers of plastic (PVB) or resin. In case of breakage, the interlayer holds the fragments together and continues to provide resistance to the passage of persons or objects. This glass is particularly suitable where it is important to ensure the resistance of the whole sheet after breakage such as: shop-fronts, balconies, stair-railings, roof glazing.
We can cut, shape and drill holes into 4-19mm thick glass.
Ultra Tough is for high-quality, Kitemark-approved heat-strengthened glass.
Our glass processing and testing methods follow recognised industry standards..
